Eats, Shoots and Leaves
My boss brought to my attention of this book called, “Eats, Shoots and Leaves.” It’s a book focusing on the mishaps of simple punctuation and how it can cause so many misunderstandings.
After a little bit more research, I dicovered a nice story about how a panda walks into a cafe, orders a sandwich, pulls out a firearm, and starts shooting up the other patrons. “Why did you do that?!” asked the waiter. The panda throws a manual over its shoulder and leaves. The waiter skims through the manual and finds a brief explanation: Panda- originating from the eastern lands of asia with a bear like figure. Eats, shoots and leaves.
In case you don’t get this, the correct way of explaining the panda would be “eats shoots and leaves.” And in case you don’t know what shoots are, they are from bamboo, which are what pandas eat.
