Realization

My parents both work in the restaurant business and it’s tough work. One day when I was about 7 years old, my mom had been telling me about how her hands were always hurting because of dried hands due to working and handling cleaning solutions. But being young and naive, I’ve never realized the full extent of her pain… until recently. After working long hours and dealing with cleaning solutions all day long, my hands have become dried and cracked to the point where it hurts to even use my hands for anything. The pain sucks and the wounds take forever to heal.

Imagining yourself to be in a position of another person is one thing, but it’s a different story when you actually feel their pain.

Eats, Shoots and Leaves

My boss brought to my attention of this book called, “Eats, Shoots and Leaves.” It’s a book focusing on the mishaps of simple punctuation and how it can cause so many misunderstandings.

After a little bit more research, I dicovered a nice story about how a panda walks into a cafe, orders a sandwich, pulls out a firearm, and starts shooting up the other patrons. “Why did you do that?!” asked the waiter. The panda throws a manual over its shoulder and leaves. The waiter skims through the manual and finds a brief explanation: Panda- originating from the eastern lands of asia with a bear like figure. Eats, shoots and leaves.

In case you don’t get this, the correct way of explaining the panda would be “eats shoots and leaves.” And in case you don’t know what shoots are, they are from bamboo, which are what pandas eat.

slowly

pauloleandro:

I am slowly falling more behind in school. I always try really hard in the beginning, and then my efforts wane as the semester progresses. Maybe, now that I’m realizing it, I will try harder.

Even though you are falling behind, don’t give up. You know, a wise man once told me, “failure isn’t falling down, it’s giving up.” Coincidentally, that wise man is me.
